Follow the sources you care about, filter them in plain English, and let your agent bring you the catch-up. For anyone who has an unread count somewhere they have stopped opening, and wants the five things that matter delivered in the place they already work.

Set it up

1

Follow everything in one go

follow these twelve sites for me, and tell me which ones don’t publish a feed.
Paste sites, feed URLs, or a mix — up to twenty at a time. smry works out which ones publish a feed and says so. The ones that do not are a job for a monitor.
follow x.com/paulg, tiktok.com/@zachking and instagram.com/garyvee as well.
X, TikTok, Instagram, and Threads accounts become sources like any other.
2

Group them

put the model-release sources in a collection called “ai” and leave everything else where it is.
Collections are how you ask for part of your reading instead of all of it.
3

Filter in plain English

on the ai collection, only surface model releases and pricing changes. preview it before you apply it.
The filter is a sentence, not a keyword list. Previewing first shows what it would have kept and dropped. A preview stays valid for fifteen minutes, so approve it in the same conversation.

The daily catch-up

what’s come in since my last catch-up? five max, newest first, and one line on why each matters.
the information one was noise. less like that.
keep the anthropic one, tag it model-releases.
Feedback teaches the feed. Saving pulls the full text onto your shelf, so tomorrow’s catch-up does not have to be re-read to be used.

smry holds your place

That prompt says “since my last catch-up” and it means it. smry keeps the read position on its side, so a scheduled agent stores nothing — no cursor file, no last-seen timestamp, no database of its own. Your agent asks for what is new, processes it, and acknowledges. Run it from a cron job on a machine with no disk and it still never repeats itself, and never skips. That is the part nothing else in the reading space does. See managed consumers for the mechanism.

More to lift

which feeds are flooding me? posts per day per source, last two weeks.
which of my sources haven’t published in six months? then unfollow the ones i pick from that list.
what did i miss while i was away for a week? group it by collection.
more like that last one from simon willison.
what am i actually following? list it by collection, with how often each one posts.
run my monday catch-up: five items, one line each, with links, and save anything about pricing.

Questions

No, as long as it uses a managed consumer. smry hands out the batch, your agent acknowledges it, and the next run starts after it. If you would rather hold the cursor yourself, you can — hand it back unchanged and you pick up where you stopped.
No. A catch-up is a read. Your unread counts in the reader are yours to clear.
A hundred on the free plan, a thousand on Patron, twenty-five thousand on Pro. Collections cap at five, a hundred, and a thousand. You will hit the attention limit long before the account limit.
Point a monitor at it. It shows up in your collections as an ordinary source, and change events read exactly like posts — see Watch what changes.
Ask for the list first. Bulk writes run as a dry run by default and report what they would affect, which is why every prompt above says “show me before you touch it”.
