# Rangers transfer state of play amid Vanja Dragojevic update **By:** Joshua Barrie **Published:** Thu, 16 Jul 2026 17:28:00 GMT **Source:** [Rangers Review](https://www.rangersreview.co.uk/features/26281926.rangers-transfer-state-play-amid-dragojevic-hjerto-dahl-updates) --- Rangers are advancing in talks to sign Serbian midfielder Vanja Dragojevic as they look to add another midfielder to Derek McInnes' squad. The Rangers Review understands discussions are progressing positively as the club looks to land a highly sought-after talent, who has captained Partizan Belgrade and already been capped twice for his country. While a deal for the 20-year-old is yet to be finalised, there have been positive developments in the past 24 hours, with an agreement close to being struck. Dragojevic, an all-action midfielder, has attracted interest from elsewhere in Europe, with the belief that he has the technical and mental capabilities to thrive at Ibrox. On Saturday, Cammy Devlin became the sixth addition of the summer as a second midfield signing was added to Derek McInnes' squad. Dan Neil, who wore the captain's armband from the start against Kazier Chiefs on Sunday, arrived earlier in June from Sunderland and has taken the No.6 jersey. Central midfielders Nico Raskin, Connor Barron and Mo Diomande are all entering the final two years of their deals. Tochi Chukwuani arrived in the January window from Sturm Graz. While another midfield addition is not off the table this summer, the Rangers Review understands the club is prioritising a move for Dragojevic at the time of writing, amid links to Tromsø midfielder Jens Hjerto-Dahl, a player who's also under consideration in midfield. It's understood that despite claims of a club delegation flying to Norway, the Rangers hierarchy remains in Spain at the club's pre-season base. McInnes' side will play their second closed-door friendly tonight, at 7pm local time, before returning to Scotland tomorrow. New Croatian goalkeeper Ivor Pandur will report for his first day as a Rangers player on Monday, while Norway's Thelo Aasgaard is back after World Cup duty next Wednesday. Exits for John Souttar and Danilo are also understood to be progressing after both were left out of the travelling pre-season squad. Elsewhere, there remains optimism that Findlay Curtis will sign a new deal at Ibrox, having agreed fresh terms this summer following his breakthrough season. Further contract talks are also anticipated with highly-rated young goalkeeper Rydnn McGuire. The 17-year-old, who has started all three friendly games in pre-season, is out of contract next summer.
