# Serious Mohamed Diomande Rangers injury fear emerges **By:** Keith Jackson **Published:** 2026-03-17T17:49:00Z **Source:** [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/serious-mohamed-diomande-rangers-injury-36883309) --- Serious Mohamed Diomande Rangers injury fear emerges as Danny Rohl left sweating title race hammer blow Rangers fear Diomande may have suffered a dislocated shoulder against Celtic - - - Comments9 Sport Keith Jackson Chief Sportswriter 17:49, 17 Mar 2026Updated 08:49, 18 Mar 2026 Content cannot be displayed without consent Rangers are facing a major injury sweat for the title run-in amid concerns that Mohamed Diomande might be set for a stretch on the sidelines. ‌ Diomande started his side’s Scottish Cup quarter final defeat to derby rivals Celtic at Ibrox before being replaced by Tochi Chukwuani at half time. But the Ivorian didn’t even make it on to Danny Rohl’s bench for Sunday’s nervy 1-0 top flight win over St Mirren. ‌ And now Record Sport understands Diomande was ruled out of Rohl’s matchday squad for the short trip to Paisley after suffering a gruesome injury during the first half of that Old Firm showdown. ‌ It’s feared Diomande may have suffered a dislocation of a shoulder on derby day although the full extent of the damage remains unclear - with sources saying the worst case scenario may require surgery. It’s suspected that the bone popped out of the joint during the game and if Diomande does need to go under the knife it would potentially rule the midfielder out for the remainder of the current campaign. But the medics fear that, even if scans show up a less severe, partial dislocation could still rule Diomande out until after the international break at the end of this month. ‌ And that still would leave the 24-year-old as a doubt for a crucial upcoming Ibrox double header against Aberdeen on Saturday and Dundee United on April 4 as Rohl attempts to keep his team in the thick of this season’s three way battle for the Premiership crown. In the best case scenario, Diomande could yet be given the green light to rejoin the squad before the weekend but only if the severity of the injury is judged to be minimal. Ironically, Rohl has only just welcomed back Connor Barron into his midfield options after the Scotland international needed three months on the sidelines to recover from a knee injury. ‌ Rohl added Chukwuani to his squad during the January transfer window to add much needed cover but the manager was hoping to have the numbers boosted in time for the run-in by Barron’s return to action. The former Aberdeen man came off the bench and looked back up to speed during Sunday’s win over St Mirren but now Rohl could be denied the services of Diomande as this season’s championship battle goes down to the wire. ‌ Hearts remain two points clear at the top of the table and will extend that lead to five points with a win over Dundee at Tynecastle on Saturday afternoon. Rohl’s side are next up with a Saturday night visit from the Dons before second placed Celtic take on Dundee United at Tannadice on Sunday lunchtime.
